With Doncaster Shoppingtown nearing completion and a number of apartment towers being built on Doncaster Hill (million dollar pricetags) I can see Doncaster becoming the next suburb to boom after Balwyn.

Doncaster has everything you could need now. And I for one hope prices keep going up!

Maybe Doncaster will overtake Templestowe in the prestige stakes.

Nice try donnyresident, but i don't think Doncaster will ever become the "prestige" suburb that Templestowe is.

What would be interesting to see is the change in market conditions in Doncaster over the past 5 years. Has growth been above the average for the area because of Doncaster Shoppingtown?

I do agree though, "shoppo" has everything you could want, except cinemas which are opening up soon :)

I think Templestowe is starting to look real old. All of those 1970's style ranch homes and 1980's style Miami Vice houses - nothing much seems to change there.

And house prices havent really taken off there.

What I'm talking about is "prestige". Doncaster will never be looked upon as "prestigous". There isnt the land size, nor the seclusion\massive fences that a suburb like Canterbury, Templestowe or Toorak has.

Did you ever think Balwyn would have homes averaging $1million? What about Box Hill having million dollar homes. Preston, Coburg etc - all non blue chip suburbs 20 years ago.

Ive seen $3 million homes in Balwyn - what I'm saying is that eventually developers will get into Doncaster, start knocking down homes - prices will hit $1million+ on average.

Templestowe's prestigious homes are only due to acre land size.

What is more valuable - Balwyn or Templestowe? You dont need huge houses to be a prestige suburb.

Doncaster is not Templestowe is not Balwyn , so just get over it......................

I went to Doncaster once. Didn't really like it, so I came home.
