Supermarkets within 5 minute drive 

Camberwell has access to a number of supermarkets:

• Safeway (main supermarket for locals) is at Station Street, Camberwell 
• Safeway (good option,especially on Sundays) is at Whitehorse Road, Balwyn
  
• Bocaccios (great smaller independent with a great deli!) enter at Head St, Balwyn.
• IGA (small independent) located at Maling Road, Canterbury 
• Coles (smaller selection 24 hours) at  Doncaster Road, Balwyn North
• Coles at Camberwell (under construction, expected finish date late 2008).
  

Supermarkets further away -10 minutes 

• Coles Victoria Gardens (great selection) at Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre in Richmond. Enter off RIver Boulevard,Richmond.
  
• Coles Toronga Village, Toorak Road, Hawthorn East
  

Tips:

Safeway at Camberwell is the established mega supermarket everyone seems to go to. It has recently been renovated and now has almost everything you could need. They are trying to innovate (self service cash registers) and tchanges have been brought on by the impending arrival of the new Coles at Camberwell Junction. Parking can be a nightmare at times, especially on Sundays when the Camberwell market is on. Try the Safeway at Whitehorse Road, Balwyn on Sundays, not so busy.

If you want a supermarket with a deli, try Bocaccio's in Balwyn. It is a smaller, IGA style, independent and has a variety of goods you dont see at the majors. They also bake their own quality bread which is a change from the mass produced bread turned out by Safeway.  

Best car park - undeneath Safeway (Camberwell), take the first left at the underground carpark, then take the first right, then left. Always seems to be more parking available there.
