Brighton is an up-market beachside suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 12 km southeast of the city.
Brighton is home to some of the wealthiest citizens in Melbourne with is distinguished grand homes, and the development of large residential blocks of land. On the beach, Beach Road is a popular cycling route, with off-road cycling tracks also on the beach. The North Road Pavillion is a popular cafe which has an outlook of Port Phillip Bay, while the beachfront features stunning views toward the Melbourne city skyline. North Road Brighton features many old churches and residences. The main beach in Brighton has the historic Brighton Baths which is now home to a beautiful restaurant..
Brighton is renowned for some of Melbournes best schools. Secondary schools include Haileybury College (Brighton campus, with the development of the new 'Brighton Beach Campus' soon underway), St.Leonards College Brighton Grammar School, Firbank Girls Grammar and Brighton Secondary. Xavier College also has a campus there.
There are two cinemas in Brighton; The Dendy Brighton and The Brighton Bay. There is also a children's swim school, Paul Sadler swim school.
Brighton can be reached by train on the Sandringham line and by bus on the 216 and 219 which run to the Melbourne CBD.
