"Victoria Park Overview from the Town of Victoria Park"

The Town of Victoria Park is a vibrant and diverse town situated just across from the Perth CBD. We have great cafes restaurants and unique retail stores. Our neighbours are the Cities of Canning, Belmont and South Perth.
The population is over 32,000 and is expected to grow to 45,756 by 2031. For more information on the Town’s population please view the Town of Victoria Park Community Profile and Community Atlas.
The Town’s community has historically been a working class and ethnically diverse area. In recent times there has been gentrification within its residential areas and is increasingly being sought after as a destination for residential properties and commercial developments. A thriving café culture has developed as part of the increased investment in the main street Albany Highway as well as the Causeway precinct and the Burswood Peninsula. To hear about the Town’s current development strategies please follow this link.

"Never again."

My goodness the amount of crap that goes on in this place after dark. When your not struggling to get a car park during the day, your hoping your house and car don't get broken into during the night. Had two attemped break in's within 6 months and bikes stolen - numerous cars in our gated parking area had their windows smashed or tyres slashed. Not to mention the road noise from canning hwy is enough to do anyones head in, putting up with people screaming out their car windows every weekend and the ambos, cops and fire trucks racing past sirens blaring at all times of the day and night. I could go on but will leave it at that.
Pros
  • Close to city
  • Lots of restaurants
  • Good public transport
Cons
  • Lot of crime in the area
  • Crazy road noise if you live near canning hwy
  • blocks of flats and noisy
  • high street traffic
  • parking issues

"I Love Victoria Park"

I love living in Victoria Park. It’s near shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs, river, rec centre, Casino, Movies by Burswood and the list goes on, it has everything. You don’t need a car because you are only 3km from the city and can pretty much cycle everywhere you need to go. Victoria Park isn’t what I call a green, picture perfect area but having said that the street I live in is tree lined with well looked after heritage weatherboard and brick homes and looks quite nice. I noticed a few comments from other reviewers about the crime but I have to say “what do you expect”. If you live in the section of Vic Pk which is full of flats and complexes you are going to have problems with crime. I have friends that live in complexes in quite “well to do” suburbs and they have been broken into a few times and have to deal with constant noise from annoying neighbours. I live in the “suburbia” part of Vic Pk and haven’t had a problem with crime. I bought a house in the area a couple of years ago and am glad I did. My family and I feel very safe and comfortable and thoroughly enjoy living in Vic Pk. I rate Vic Pk 10 out of 10!

"Ghetto like"

Neighbourly spirit is low due to all the large blocks of flats and a high percentage of immigrants with english as their second language. There are minimal parks and it is too near the city to be considered clean & green. There is a problem with apartment block and street parking and there is a lot of noise from screaming neighbours and late night parties with such a dense population of people living on top of each other. It is the cheapest place to buy a flat within 3km of the city and that is about the only real pro I can think of besides the choices of eating out along the strip. The nearest gym is east on Albany Hwy or in Perth CBD itself.

"Improving every year"

I've lived here for nearly 3 years and plan to stay a lot longer. There are beautiful old houses and many cafes, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Also the area is bicycle friendly and there's many buses as well as the train. A lot of people seem to perceive Vic Park as a high crime area, but I've never had a problem here. There are sometimes some dodgy people around the main streets, but not too many. My housemate called the police once, but that was because he saw a proselytising Christian and didn't approve!
Pros
  • Close to city
  • Good public transport
  • Lots of restaurants
Cons
  • Community Corrections Centre on Albany Hwy
  • Noisy fireworks in summer (maybe a pro when you can see them from your house)

"Wonderful place to live"

Wonderfully quiet, very surprising considering how close it is to the city.

The four streets Armagh, Washington, Geddes and Gloucester which face Raphael park are the very best streets in Vic park to live.

Great access to the city, great eating out places too. Having proximity to the park is great for kids/animals too.

Couldn't rate the area higher.
