Kingscliff

Kingscliff is a thriving coastal village with everything a professional, retiree or family could need. The main town is by far the better area as it still has that that character that the newer parts lack ( salt , casuarina ) with a mix of what is was like 20yr ago along with trendy up market restaurants, cafes ect. The main beach is safe and good all year round, the fishing even better. The people in the main part of kingscliff are mostly long term residents who are friendly and most welcoming.

I live in Salt Village with my partner and 2 children aged 2 and 5 not forgetting the Guinea Pigs! We moved down from the Gold Coast as it was too busy, and the community spirit was not there. I am in my last year of studying a primary school degree which has given me great insight into the schools locally. They are all good. Public and private. It is a safe community, quiet and very friendly. The local cudgen creek is great for young children to swim and play safely, the beaches are clean and lifeguard patrolled. There are many restaurants and cafes and local shops. 10 mins from Tweed City shopping centre and 20 mins from Robina Town Centre which has all your department stores. There are lots of activities and parks for kids, Murwillumbah is 15 mins away, with an indoor heated pool for winter and an indoor play centre. Byron Bay is only 30 mins away. It is a family place, the locals and nonlocals(I am from England) respect it, look after their gardens, enjoy the weather and meet together at Salt Village park for many different events, Surfing, Xmas Carols, Opera in the park, etc. Its an amazing place, I cannot think of anything I do not like about it.

Kingscliff has become a very popular town for retirees and holiday makers. That is why I don't think that the fact that it is a little out of the way would matter too much. Once you were there you probably don't leave too often as it is not really a commercial centre.

The weather at Kingscliff is fantastic, not too hot and bearable in winter. It is very picturesque with fabulous beaches and a real café/restaurant atmosphere is in town. And why not, it is a town of people with not a lot to do and there is nothing better than to sit around in a café and enjoy the sunshine.

Recent developments mean that most of Kingscliffe is quite modern looking and most people who go there want to go back at some stage. I have heard that there is a great retirement village there and the residents are very active and social.

Getting to Kingscliffe means coming off the Pacific Highway when coming north and wending your way out to the coast, or coming from the north you can access it from the highway once you have crossed south over the Tweed River. It is about a 1/2 hr drive north to Tweed Heads from Kingscliffe.
