"Affluent residential suburb 10/10 +"

A harbourside eastern suburb, Double Bay is just one of the best places to live, with the nicest restaurants. If you are into labels then you are in your element for boutique shopping. Like coming here and meeting up with friends.

"Pricey Point Piper"

The very prestigious harbourside suburb of Point Piper is situated 6 kilometres east of Sydney’s CBD in the Municipality of Woollahra and is part of the Eastern Suburbs. It has a population of about 1,400 16% of whom are under 18 and 30% of whom are over 60. It is bounded by Sydney Harbour to the west, north and east and by Rose Bay and Double Bay to the south.

This affluent suburb has only 11 streets where house prices are astronomical. The main road, Wolseley Road is one of the 10 most expensive streets in the world! In 2008 a property sold in the suburb for the outrageous price of $32.4 million where only four years before it was sold for $16.15 million.

The area has been inhabited since 1792. There is no commercial area so residents would shop in nearby Double Bay or the city. It is home to the exclusive Royal Motor Yacht Club and the equally exclusive Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club.

A very popular place for picnics and weddings is Duff Reserve. There are two beaches Lady Martin Beach and Seven Shillings Beach which also has a pool, though I don’t think any of the residents would use it as nearly every house has a swimming pool!

Point Piper is well worth a visit just to look at the magnificent mansions that command wonderful views and such high prices.

"Trendy Double Bay"

Probably one of the best known eastern suburbs of Sydney is the harbour side suburb of Double Bay which is situated 4 kilometres east of the CBD. It has a population of nearly 5,000 people of whom 15% are under 18 and 24% are over 60.

If you’re thinking of buying a property in this area make sure you can meet the hefty price tag that will go with it. It is, despite the cost of houses and units, a nice area of Sydney to live in.

It boasts the most fashionable and expensive shopping in Sydney – “Double Bay – Double Pay” is an often heard saying. It is fun to window shop there even if you can’t afford to buy. I know my grandmother, who lived in Bellevue Hill, loved to wander the shopping centres of Double Bay looking in the windows.

Public transport facilities are good. There are always buses to the city and out to Bondi and further. There is also a ferry wharf for those who like to travel to the city on the water.

There is one primary school in the suburb. Older children need to travel to neighbouring suburbs for high school.

For those who like an elegant lifestyle, and can afford it, this is the place to be!

"Fashionable and expensive"

This harbourside suburb is renowned for its exclusive and prestigious address. Just 4 kilometres to the east of the CBD, Double Bay is one of THE addresses to have. Unfortunately however this place is priced out of the reach of most people.

There are many stunning residential properties in this region, with quite a few claiming a harbour front view.

Double Bay's commercial area is really quite delightful, with a number of expensive and exclusive shops, boutique hotels and dining options.

"A stone's throw away from the city"

Double Bay also frequently known as “Double Pay” stays true to its nickname. Located along the East side of Sydney, it is one of the most expensive suburbs in the whole of Sydney. When in Double Bay, you can find many big houses. These houses are not for the average household as they are usually worth millions. This suburb is only a ten minutes drive from the city and five minutes away from Bondi Junction. Hence, it makes it very accessible by bus and a very convenient location for families who can afford to live there.

The streets of Double Bay are lined with trees and they are usually kept pretty clean. There are plenty of shops and businesses around Double Bay. Cafes, restaurants, hotels and boutiques all vie for a piece of this exclusive suburb and the money that goes around here. When shopping in Double Bay, do expect to pay above market prices.
